Rhapsody I
Version for alt, violin & accordion [2002/03] | duration: 7’00”
Rhapsody I for alto, violin and accordion was composed in 2002/03 as one of two pieces for voice and viola d’amore and was adapted for the present instrumentation in 2008. It combines lyrical feeling with a relaxed joy in playing.
The piece unfolds into a broad lyrical song, joining the two voices in a relational duet. The vocal part is mostly instrumental, evolving less dialogically than in collective motion with the other instruments. A surprising stretta marks an opening at the end.
Bernhard Landauer – alt; Annelie Gahl – violin; Harald Pröckl – accordion
